Waiting ListCJ The X is an artist and a philosopher based in Toronto that has been independently studying philosophy and creating content online since 2021. Since publishing their first video essay on YouTube they’ve amassed over 350 thousand subscribers, 15 million views, a robust crowdfunding base on Patreon and sold out lecture audiences around the world. Their breathless interdisciplinary approach makes them one of the most unique cultural voices in the internet age, blending irreverent humour, sharp intellectualism, and earnest spirituality.
In 2024 CJ began performing comedy-philosophy lectures marketed directly to their audience through their videos and personal mailing list. These in person experiences function as extensions of their online work, skewering and celebrating the tensions of the digital age. In 2025 they performed their first lecture tour across Canada, the UK and Ireland, culminating in a sold out performance in London’s Leicester Square Theatre. In 2026 they have their sights set on expanding their performances to the USA and beyond.
They speak passionately on an eclectic array of subjects, from aesthetic philosophy, to the re-enchantment of the world and the pathologies of the digital age. Above all they advocate for finding meaning, truth, and beauty outside the boundaries of the Self.
When not philosophizing, CJ is also a rapper, producer, and playwrite, always most comfortable working on multiple projects in multiple mediums at once.
You can find their work in person, on Youtube, on Patreon, and at cjthex.com.
